Joe Bodiford was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida.  His family has lived in Tallahassee since 1968 - orginally settling in Florida in 1843, before it was even a State.  Joe's great-great-great-great grandfater Martin Dolan voted in the first election in Florida  - specially held for the people to decide whether to join the United States!

A semi-professional trumpet player, Mr. Bodiford has toured the United States and Europe with classical ensembles.  He has also played in ensembles and orchestras in Tallhassee and the Tampa Bay area.

Education and Experience

Joe Bodiford earned his B.A. and M.M. from Florida State University and his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law.  He is Board Certified in Criminal Trial Law by The Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education, and Board Certified in Criminal Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.  Joe Bodiford was an assistant state attorney for Hillsborough and Pasco counties - his prosecutorial experience informs his strategy.  Mr. Bodiford remains involved with Stetson University College of Law as an adjunct professor, where for the past 5 years he teaches:

  • Trial Advocacy
  • Florida Criminal Procedure
  • Legal Drafting

He is also a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Hillsborough County Association of Criminal Defense lawyers.  Additionally, he is a fellow for the Litigation Counsel of America Trial Lawyer Honorary Society.  He has tried over 100 jury trials and countless non-jury ("bench") trials in both criminal and civil matters.  He can represent clients in both state and Federal courts.
